| National Independent Trust Company is a subsidiary of Argent Financial Group, a private financial services company headquartered in Ruston, Louisiana. A successor of the Trust Department of Ruston State Bank, which began service in 1930, NITC became an independent company in 1990.
NITC is chartered by the Office of Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). Our national charter allows us to create private-label partnerships in all 50 US states with qualified entities in need of trust services. Under such an arrangement, each "partner affiliate" becomes a "division" of NITC, with all the benefits and rights that flow from our national trust charter. NITC is organized along, and provides support services to, three business lines:
